kras d.d.Zagreb:1911 Kras's sweet history began.The UNION Factory in Zagreb,became the first Chocolate manufacturer in Southeastern Europe.In 1923,The BIZJAK Company of Zagreb on Savska Street began to manfacture Toast,Cookies and Wafers.In 1950,UNION merged with BIZJAK and other manufacturers from Zagreb,and took the name KRAS. One of the best chocolates I like to take home is GROTTE,(Cherries steeped in alcohol,and covered in dark chocolate.The Best!)
The Croatian National Anthem(Lijepa nesa domovino,)"Our Beautiful Homeland",was written by Croatian Poet & Diplomat Autun Mihanovic(1796-1861.)The music was composed by Josip Runjanin(1821-1878.)Many Croats who sang during the former Yugo-Slav Regime(for example,at Country Weddings,)risked to be imprisoned.There was a jail,not far from Zagreb,nicknamed as "Jail for Singers!"

DRAGUTIN KARLO NOVAK(ZAGREB 16 FEBRUARY 1892-ZAGREB 31 OCTOBER 1978.)Was the first person in Croatia,to make a heavier-than-air flight.He flew a plane constructed by SLAVOLJUB EDUARD PENKALA,on June 22nd 1910.It was the first flight in Croatia using a motor operated Airplane.Dragutin Karlo Novak,was the first Croatian Pilot,in history.
